Our Daily Bread: Craft wines
As the offspring of winemakers who ran a bakery complicit within the grain trade, we truly appreciate our love for artisan food. You can still see and feel the four generations of master bakers in our family, just by having a look at our ancient stone oven and the table where flour was placed on the patio of our vineyard’s wine store. Whilst our father was standing with one leg in the vineyard and with the other in the bakery, we decided to let others bake the bread but deliver the right wine to complement the pairing. Since 1996 wine making is our daily bread.
Man shall not live by wine alone.
Do you think that’s provocative for a winemaker to say? Maybe, but we are more than winemakers. We are siblings, who couldn’t be more disparate, curious libertines; great lovers of culture and nature. Whenever Ludwig leaves his beloved tractor behind or has finished refining the wines in the cellar, he loves to frolic around with his son Kilian, building model aeroplanes, reciting modern literature or enjoying concerts. For Michaela, once she’s done with the wine fairs and customer meetings, music plays a significant role in her life, especially opera. She also likes to be out exploring nature and going for extensive hikes with her Jack Russel, Digbi. Marianne, as well as having a magic touch with our customers, also has green thumbs. As a hobby gardener, she loves to share her garden with a flock of hens including a cockerel.
