Kamptaler wines to drink out of line
Wine is like music: simply humming is boring. That’s why we appreciate diversity, not only in our vineyards but also in the glass. We have a variety of different top soils which build the base for the variation in taste. This is hard to find anywhere else in the Kamp Valley. Grüner Veltliner and Riesling make up the biggest area but the real catalyst for Ludwig was the Sauvignon Blanc. Since we found some of them by a lucky accident within our grapevines of Gemischter Satz, we became the first to produce this aromatic variety in 1989. These days it’s impossible to imagine our range of wines without Sauvignon, Muskateller and their accompaniments.
Like every variety, every site has its own character. By controlling the fermentation process and with cautious barrel maturation, we are able to achieve a genuine, pure taste within each variety. The results are impressive. These balanced wines provide pleasurable drinking like none other – just like their makers.

Where our wines surpass themselves
There a quite a few parameters that determine if a vineyard – even with the best of care – is able to yield expressive wines with specific character and flavour. At our vineyards, it’s the interaction of a certain soil structure with the characteristic climate of the Kamp Valley that provides our wines with this special, distinctive fresh and spicy stamp.
It’s our respect for this precious soil, along with authentic artisan wines that walk hand in hand – and has done so for five generations.
